You can’t turn on the TV or peruse the news outlets without running into a story about how disenchanted the left is with the President. Since Mr. Obama is, undoubtedly, the most leftist individual ever to occupy the oval office, what’s the rest of the story?

Here are the possibilities:

It’s a ruse. They’re trying to convince the moderate swing voter that he’s not that radical. “See,” they say, “if he were really the socialist the right claims he is, do you think we’d be upset?”
They’re really disappointed in the American people. They truly believed that two years ago the electorate had an epiphany and awoke from some trance that Ronald Reagan had put them in thirty years ago. They saw it and they knew everybody saw it. The American people have wised up and conservatism is dead! The GOP and those idiots at Fox News and Rush Limbaugh will realize the game is up and they will pack their things and go!
They really are disappointed. They got Obama but what they really wanted was Hugo Chavez. They’re upset because, not only did they expect a takeover of Chrysler and GM, but why didn’t he seize Ford, too? Why didn’t they just outlaw private health insurance and get it over with? Why was FNC still operating? In the name of civility why didn’t they just criminalize the opposition with hate-speech laws?
